Dawn Alyson Lafferty Hochsprung (née Lafferty; June 28, 1965 - December 14, 2012) was an American woman and was the principal of Sandy Hook Elementary School, beginning in 2010. People described her as always enthusiastic, always smiling, and always game to do anything. Dawn was a dedicated leader who inspired students to reach their fullest potential.
Sadly, she was one of the 6 staff members killed alongside 20 1st grade students between the ages of 6 and 7 in the Sandy Hook massacre that occurred on December 14, 2012. In her memory, her family created the Dawn Hochsprung Memorial Fund to aid Naugatuck students entering the teaching profession.
